My clientele seek help with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, couples distress, trauma, parenting difficulties, relationship conflict, and major life transitions. Although I tailor the treatment plan to meet each couple's or individual's needs, the majority of my interventions are drawn from the cognitive-behavioral toolset. I seek to understand strengths, as well as the problems that bring people into my office. Using well-timed humor, relevant research information, and meaningful feedback, I collaboratively design treatment plans that feel "doable." Usually, my clients feel relief in the first few sessions. It is a privilege to have worked in diverse settings such as community mental health, inpatient, and college mental health centers. While in private practice, I have continued to hone my own skill set, which can require giving honest, yet tough, feedback in a compassionate, usable way. A sizable portion of my practice is couples therapy. Some people are more concerned with privacy than others. Please know that my waiting area is separate from the exit to my office, which reduces the chance of crossing paths with other people. In addition, there is a quiet side entrance into the building.

Adolescence is a time of great change and growth. During that time there can also be a lot of worry. Worries about the future, grades, external pressures, social challenges, and the drive toward perfectionism. Without treatment, anxiety can become overwhelming which in turn can take control of your family structure. I teach adolescents, parents and young adults how worry works, and the skills to manage the intrusive, repetitive, and negative thoughts they are experiencing. I specialize in treating anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder utilizing the methods of CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and ERP. I look forward to hearing from you! I provide a free consultation call. During that call the two of us will decide if I am a good match for your teen or young adult. Feel free to reach out and we will find a time to talk! I meet with my clients online using the Simple Practice Teletherapy platform.

Using evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I specialize in helping people with anxiety and related problems, including depression, stress, trauma, cancer survivorship, adult ADHD, chronic pain, insomnia, and behavioral medicine. If any of these are interfering with your efforts to achieve healthy goals, maximize your growth potential, and lead a happy, productive life, we could work together to help you identify the psychological and situational factors that are blocking you and teach you the necessary skills to more effectively manage or eliminate those factors. CBT is a very effective way to help you do this. CBT helps you change thoughts, rather than situations, in order to change painful emotions and unhelpful behaviors. It is brief, structured, and builds on the idea that emotional and behavioral reactions are learned. The goal of therapy is helping you unlearn unhelpful reactions and learn new, helpful ways of reacting. More than "talk therapy," CBT leads to long term results. Understanding how and why you are doing well enables you to know what to do to continue doing well. It has been my real privilege to work with people who have unlearned their unhelpful reactions and pursued happy, productive lives.

Talking with a therapist can bring about deeper understanding of who we are, why we feel or behave as we do, what we want from our lives and how to find a path toward self-acceptance. I want to help my clients develop the belief that they can make positive changes in their lives and the tools to change defeating thoughts and behaviors. I’m a pre-licensed clinical mental health counselor, dedicated to providing a safe, compassionate, and empowering space for individuals or couples to explore thoughts, behaviors, emotions, and relationships and how to address and move through pain and stress. I use a strength based, solutions focused approach to support clients in building better relationships with both themselves and others. My goal is to help clients diminish the obstacles that prevent them from having the life experience they want and deserve.
